Belgium here we come (again)

We booked our spring vacation and we are going to Belgium!

We are going back in Belgium for 1 week for a short Easter holiday and I am thrilled about that, I can’t hardly wait to visit Belgium again!

Belgium has been our adoptive country for about 5 years in the past (2002 – 2007) and I always admired this little country and its people.

Like I said, I lived there for about 5 years (together with Raluca for about 3 years) and I feel this is my second homeland. We learned Dutch, one of the official languages (there are 3 official languages in Belgium: Dutch, French, German) and we went to school there and meet wonderful people that helped us a lot.

We lived in Ypres that is a jewel small town marked by the horrors of the first world war.

This is Ypres – the old center:

I really love the buildings architecture from Belgium, when I first arrived there, after 2 days of travel, my first impression was that I arrived in a tale from Hansel and Gretel. It was quite a great impression that lasts up to this day.

Most of the Belgians I met  were polite people that easily accepted foreigners and especially admired foreigners that gave their best on learning the language and try to integrate.

Because is a small country we visited most of the important tourist attractions from the northern Belgium and for this next vacation I really want to re-visit Brugge (the featured image of this article is from Brugge), Gent, Brussels and the North Sea  if the time will allow it.

We will try to update with pictures and stories about our holiday in Belgium starting with 22 April …
