Trio chocolate mousse cake

Hello friends!

Today I will share with you a new recipe of a delicious chocolate mousse cake.

Around News Year  we made this delicious chocolate mousse cake that we found on internet by a local cooker. We find this recipe very easy to make so we decided to try it…..and believe me it is THE BEST CAKE that I ever made. I even got a 10 from my grandmother when she taste it.

Maybe you will find that are too many ingredients but as many as it seems, the easier it is to make. There are 4 steps that you have to follow.

Step 1 – Chocolate crust. Here is what you will need:

  • 65 g flour
  • 120 ml buttermilk
  • 60 g sugar
  • 60 g butter -room temperature
  • 20 g cocoa
  • 1 egg
  • very little salt
  • ½ tea spoon baking sodaChocolate crust 5

First put in a bowl the butter (room temperature), add the sugar and start to mix at low speed until everything is very well blended. Then add the egg and when everything is very well mixed , add the buttermilk, sieve the rest of the ingredients over it ( flour, cocoa, salt, baking soda) and blend everything at low speed until the ingredients are well incorporated.

Pour the batter into a greased pan, level it slightly and put it in the oven at 185 C for about 20-25 minutes. When crust is done, let it cool and start to make the dark chocolate mousse (step 2)


Step 2 –  Dark chocolate mousse. For this you will need:

  • 300 g fine dark chocolate
  • 250 ml heavy whipping cream
  • 50 ml cold water
  • 40 g butter
  • 5 g gelatin

Put the gelatin into a bowl and over it pour the cold water. Mix it a little bit and let it moisturize.Choco and butter

Put over a pan with water slowly boiling a heat-proof bowl and add there the chocolate and the butter. Melt the chocolate with the butter slowly. When chocolate is melted add the moisturized gelatin over and mix it until the gelatin is well melted.

When gelatin is melted, remove it from the heat and let it cool until it gets to room temperature.

Pour the heavy whipping cream (it has to be cold) into a mixer bowl and beat it until will become whipped cream.Choco and heavy cream

After this we will incorporate the whipped cream with the chocolate that we made.

When dark chocolate mousse is done, pour it over the chocolate crust, level it slightly and after this place it into freezer for about 20 minutes.

In the meanwhile  make the milk chocolate mousse.

Step 3 – Milk chocolate mousse. Here are the ingredients:

  • 300 g fine milk chocolate Milk choco mousse
  • 250 ml heavy whipping cream
  • 50 ml cold water
  • 40 g butter
  • 5 g gelatin

For step 3 we did the same like before: moisturize the gelatin, melt the chocolate with butter, add the gelatin, let the chocolate to cool until it gets to room temperature, make the heavy cream, combine them together and then pour it over the first layer of dark chocolate mousse, level it and place it again into the freezer for 20 minute.

Now the last layer.

Step 4 – White chocolate mousse. Last layer, here are the ingredients:White choco mousse

  • 300 g fine white chocolate
  • 250 ml heavy whipping cream
  • 50 ml cold water
  • 40 g butter
  • 10 g gelatin

Do the same thing as you did  before and when is done, pour it over the second layer, level it up and place the cake into fridge for at least 6 hours or overnight.

When cake is done , open the edges of the pan and decorate it as you wish….we used some chocolate candies……and this is the result:
